AOL's Advertising.com Group has named Allie Savarino Kline global cmo as the former Internet-access giant continues to shift its brand toward digital advertising. Savarino, a b-to-b marketing vet, will come over from 33Across after serving in the same role for the Washington D.C.-based social data firm during the last 20 months. Kline has an interesting, two-decade resume, including founder of social networking book club Sisterwoman and marketing exec for the NBA's Washington Wizards. But it was her breadth of b-to-b sales experience—global marketing lead for companies like Unicast and Brand Affinity Technologies—that seemed to land her the new gig. Kline will start in January, filling the Advertising.com Group's first-ever global cmo role. "Her experience in brand management, marketing and advertising for technology-focused organizations makes her a perfect fit for this role," said Ned Brody, Advertising.com Group CEO, said in a statement. "As the group has grown, the need for a dedicated leader focused on marketing our broad range of solutions across display, video and mobile has become paramount." It seems that AOL CEO Tim Armstrong is wasting no time executing his vision of restructuring and focusing marketing operations for the myriad of individual brands under the AOL umbrella. The news of Kline's hire comes only a little over a week after AOL CMO Jolie Hunt's departure which, according to a some reports, might have been the result of internal disagreements.
