The New York Times Co. named former BBC director general Mark Thompson as its new CEO earlier this week, and now comes word that he will receive a pay package totaling as much as $10.5 million, including an annual salary of $1 million, according to Bloomberg News. The company hopes Mr. Thompson can help revive sales growth and accelerate a shift to the Internet, Bloomberg News said. The new pay package is a raise for Mr. Thompson, who had reportedly received $976,000 in total compensation for his most recent year at the BBC. Bloomberg News contributed to this article.
