And it may. But there are a few rays of sunshine on the horizon. The New York Times ended 2013 on an up note as circulation revenue rose 5% in the third quarter with the help of more than 700,000 digital subscribers. The launch later this year of new pricing options for digital subscriptions, and new digital-only products, could do even more to make up for declines in both print and digital advertising dollars.
