Endeavor Business Media Tacks on Two More Events

Two-year-old Endeavor Business Media announced yet another deal on Wednesday, acquiring Agora Communications—parent company of the Smart Water Summit and Smart Utility Summit, a pair of three-day conferences held annually in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Endeavor portfolio already contains several properties serving the water and electric utility sectors, including Distributed Energy, Stormwater, WaterWorld and Utility Products magazines, as well as the Utility Analytics Institute and the Municipal Water Summit hosted-buyer event. “We look forward to working with [Endeavor CEO Chris Ferrell] and his team to scale up this very effective summits business model and leverage the magazines, content experts, contacts and expertise within the portfolio to have a year-round conversation with our utilities and vendor partners,” said Agora founder and general manager Chuck Bagwell in a statement. In just two years since its launch, Endeavor Business Media has been arguably the most active M&A player in the U.S. B2B publishing market. This week's deal comes three months after Endeavor acquired more than 20 publications and related events businesses from Informa plc, one of two major expansions for the company in 2019, including its acquisition of an additional 20 former PennWell brands from Clarion Events last February.
