Digital Nears a Third of New York Times Ad Revenue

The New York Times Co. posted second-quarter profit that topped analysts' estimates after the publisher cut expenses faster than revenue declined.Earnings excluding some items were 13 cents a share, the New York-based company said in a statement. That compares with the 11-cent average of estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Revenue, down 1.5% to $382.9 million, fell short of the $383.3 million average projection.Digital comprised 32.5% of total ad revenue at the company, up from 26.9%, as digital ad revenue rose 14.2% to $48.3 million.
