Appeals court dismisses infringement charges against Google, could create new industry

A federal appeals court in New York City dismissed a copyright infringement lawsuit Friday filed against Mountain View-based Google Inc. alleging that the technology giant's program to create digital copies of books should not be allowed. The decision is a loss to the authors whose books are being copied, but a win to the creative commons movement.
