Satirical title has a print circulation of more than 220,000, ahead of The Economist and The WeekPrivate Eye held on to the number one spot among news magazines in the second half of 2013 with a print circulation of more than 220,000, ahead of The Economist and The Week.Ian Hislop's satirical magazine had an average circulation of 224,162 in the six months to the end of December, down 0.3% on 2012 but up 0.6% on the previous six months, according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations figures published on Thursday. In print the fortnightly title stretched its lead over the UK edition of the Economist, albeit marginally, which sold 208,438 a weekly on average, down 0.9% year on year and 0.4% on the previous six months. However, when the Economist's digital circulation of 12,642 is included, pushing its combined print and digital sales up to 221,080, the gap is much smaller. The ABC has published combined magazine print and digital circulation figures for the first time in it latest report for the second half of last year.Digital editions, which must be an almost exact replica of the magazine, can be included as long as they are sold for at least 20% of the cover price of the print edition. The Week, published by Dennis Publishing, was up 2.2% year on year to 198,339.Among the other news titles, the Spectator was up 1.5% year on year and 2.7% on the previous six months to 54,070, while the New Statesman was up 14.4% on the second half of 2012, to 28,495.BBC History...
