NYT and WSJ agree on platforms: ‘They have an interest in seeing us survive’

Publishers welcome their new platform overlords. Twitter, Google, Facebook, Apple and Snapchat are all suddenly in the market for more publisher content. The rub: Deals with Facebook and Apple may look good now, but it's unclear how long they will last, or whether they will pay off. Still, publishers say the situation today is much better than 20 years ago, when AOL in particular controlled distribution.
