Mantle has acquired two books by debut novelist Diana Rosie. The first, Alberto’s Birthday, is set in Spain and tells the story of an old man – orphaned during the Spanish Civil War – and his grandson, who go in search of the former’s birthday. Mantle’s Sam Humphreys said: “This is such a deceptively simple tale; it’s incredibly sweet and charming but also very thoughtful, with a timeless, almost fable-like quality.
