InStyle Editor Ariel Foxman Is Stepping Down in August

Even more big changes are afoot at Time Inc. in the wake of last week's executive reorg, with InStyle's Ariel Foxman announcing today via WWD that he plans to step down as editorial director. Foxman, who has been with the brand for nearly eight years, will officially exit on Aug. 4 after closing the magazine's annual blowout September issue. Foxman first joined InStyle in 1999 at age 25, but left in 2003 to become the founding editor of Condé Nast's short-lived men's shopping mag Cargo, which shuttered after less than three years. In 2008, Foxman returned to InStyle as an editor at large, and in 2008, was promoted to the top job. As Time Inc. has consolidated its brands under a handful over the past couple of years following its spin-off from parent company Time Warner, Foxman has seen his own responsibilities grow. In 2015, he added oversight of sister title StyleWatch, and earlier this year, was named editorial director of the company's newly-formed InStyle Collection, which includes InStyle, digital properties xoJane and Mimi, and influencer network The Outfit. When asked by WWD whether his added responsibilities contributed to his decision to leave InStyle, Foxman responded, "There's really very little subtext here."
