One month before Indonesia appears as Market Focus Country at The London Book Fair (LBF) 2019, the National Organising Committee of Indonesia are hosting a cultural late at Asia House on Friday 15th February. The event will offer visitors a chance to experience a cultural journey across the diverse islands of Indonesia through an evening of live music and poetry readings, fashion, art and crafts accompanied by delicious culinary delights from the different regions of the country. Curated by White Line Projects, the Cultural Late is inspired by new and old forms of storytelling, reflecting the programmes from the upcoming London Book Fair. Working alongside the Indonesian Embassy in the UK, and through independent research, White Line Projects have pulled together a diverse range of contemporary voices - both static installations, live performances and participatory workshops. Visitors will be treated to a presentation of Didiet Maulana's IKAT Indonesia A/W 2019 ready to wear collection alongside a fashion collaboration between modest-wear designer Dian Pelangi, print designer Nelly Rose and embroiderer Odette Steel. Gallery Lukisan will be presenting artwork by Arwin Hidayat, and contemporary interpretations of wayang shadow puppetry by Berlin-based artist Herlmabang Bayu Aji.
