Before joining William Heinemann he was at Jonathan Cape and Vintage Books. Avery publishes non-fiction and some literary fiction, and his authors include Jamie Bartlett, Anna Bikont, Thomas Harding, Laurence Scott, Marci Shore and Adelle Waldman.
