It did not disclose reasons for the initiative but it is a similar scheme to one it ran in the 2011 financial year, when it bought back £55m-worth of shares. The retailer said: "The buy back programme will be managed by an independent third party, which makes its trading decisions independently of, and uninfluenced by, the company."
