Who’s winning at politics news on the Web

Election years are always good news for publishers. Not only does reader interest spike (particularly when polarizing candidates are ahead), but advertiser interest is also at its peak, as more campaign managers look for new ways to influence voters. Traffic to the top politics sites has increased 63 percent in the last two years, per comScore. On the traffic front, CNN and The Huffington Post are on top, but smaller right- and left-leaning sites such as Rare and Raw Story are finding big audiences on Facebook. Among the big sites, it's Mother Jones that's attracting the most millennials, with many of its competitors skewing much older.
