Time Inc. Designer Neil Jamieson Leaves for Studio

Neil Jamieson, a Time Inc. vet and a big figure in the magazine design world, has left to join design studio Joe Zeff Design to be the studio's first creative director. Jamieson most recently was design director of Money, whose tablet edition was a National Magazine Award finalist this year. He previously worked on People and Sports Illustrated. The award-winning Jamieson is also the outgoing president of the Society of Publication Designers. Jamieson was a big get for Joe Zeff Design, which made a name for itself designing covers for magazines like Time but has since gone almost all digital. Studio president Joe Zeff started out doing apps for publishers like Time Inc., but lamented that magazine publishers aren’t “taking full advantage of [their] creative resources” these days. As such, his business is moving to other sectors and institutions that are hungry for original apps. Jamieson's role will be to help the studio capitalize on that interest.    “We’re seeing tremendous opportunities outside magazine publishing,” Zeff said. “We’re finding universities are very interested in using apps to help students and faculty be more connected with their institutions. We’re finding corporations and banks and museums are all showing a lot of interest.”       Continue reading at 'AdWeek'
