Over the years, he became disillusioned with an increasingly extremist gun industry, and began speaking out against the National Rifle Association. He resigned in 2020 to advocate for gun violence prevention, becoming an adviser to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. He is now senior adviser to gun-safety group Giffords.
