Is there such a thing as “business is business” in publishing any longer? Susan Hill recently wrote in the Spectator that she had withdrawn from a bookshop event when she learned that the shop refused to stock pro-Donald Trump literature. She said that “bias was interfering with the rights of customers”. Of course, she is perfectly entitled to promote her book wherever she pleases.
