SheKnows.com, a women's lifestyle site, has been acquired by Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm specializing in high-growth companies. Formerly under the umbrella of Evolve Media Corp., SheKnows.com was a hallmark property of the brand, responsible for over 41 million unique visitors last November, according to comScore. Evolve is currently home to CraveOnline, a digital male lifestyle publishing site that draws upwards of 30 million unique visitors, according to Evolve, as well as Springboard, a video technology division and totallyher, a female-focused publishing network. SheKnows will join the ranks of Great Hill Partners acquisitions like IGN, which was sold to NewsCorp for $650 million in 2005. More recently, Great Hill Partners successfully sold its 2010 acquisition of technology publishing company Ziff-Davis to j2 Global last month for $175 million. While the terms of the acquisition weren't announced, the move may come as a surprise as the property has exhibited strong growth over the past four years. The move could free Evolve however to focus more attention toward the totallyher women's lifestyle properties such as Momtastic. The sale could also free up more initiatives like Evolve's native advertising product, INgage, which the company announced last week. Continue reading at 'AdWeek'
