Beauman, Kelman and Joseph make Desmond Elliott shortlist

Ned Beauman’s Boxer Beetle (Sceptre), also shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award, will go up against Stephen Kelman’s Pigeon English (Bloomsbury) for the £10,000 gong.
