Wilson has been a persistent critic of the BBC over its handling of the Savile affair and other recent controversies at the corporation.In the letter to Wilson Patten said that the BBC Trust is still in the process of investigating Pollard's admission that he should have included evidence from Helen Boaden, the former director of BBC News, claiming that she had told former director general Mark Thompson about the nature of Newsnight's investigation into Jimmy Savile's sex abuse.
