The National Literacy Trust (NLT) has appointed footballer and author Frank Lampard as an ambassador. In his new role Lampard will support the NLT’s work in raising literacy in the UK and motivating disadvantaged children to read, said the charity. Lampard has been associated with the NLT for some time and is this year’s ‘Reading Star’ representing Manchester City in the charity’s Premier League Reading Stars programme, which asks footballers to set literacy challenges for children.
