US mystery writer Sue Grafton, creator of the Alphabet series of novels featuring PI Kinsey Millhone, has died at the age of 77. She had been suffering from cancer. Pan Macmillan publisher Jeremy Trevathan told The Bookseller: "Sue Grafton was one of the bedrock authors of the Pan Macmillan fiction list, whose influence on the international crime fiction genre was marked by being awarded a Diamond Dagger by the CWA in the UK.
