Historian Patrick French has been appointed as Doris Lessing’s new biographer. Lessing died in November 2013 at the age of 94. French is the author of The World Is What It Is: The Authorised Biography of V. S. Naipaul (Picador), which won the Hawthornden Prize and The National Book Critics Circle Award.
